It's an excellent trip through part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park!
It's a toss-up whether this should be classified as a "scenic" road or a "twisty" road.

A great, scenic ride.
Just twisty enough to keep it interesting, but no so much so that you can't enjoy the ride.
Near Townsend traffic can back up due to river rafting buses, so be careful.
Once you clear that, there is a fork in the road.
Left for Highway 73, right to Cades Cove Park.
If you take the right, there is a tunnel a few miles up the road.
If you go left, 73 is a fun trip.
It follows a small river for most of the route.
You cross it a couple of times on bridges, so regardless which direction you ride, you have times where you are right next to the rocks and times when you are right next to the water.
Plenty of pull offs to take pictures or splash around.
Even though the heat index in town was close to 95, it was shady and cool up here.
I went through on a Sunday afternoon and traffic was still pretty light.
Recommended if you like scenery, taking pictures, or having quick access to the many trails along the highway.

Just got back off vacation and if I go back to that area I will ride this road again.
It was one of the prettier places I went in the area.

Very nice road, but lots of traffic especially during summer months.
The abundance of cars and trucks ruined it for me.

All of the below, really. This is my favorite road in East Tennessee.

Follows river a lot of the way.
Very scenic, but don't take your eyes off of the road.
This is a gem of a road that most don't know about.
