State route 8 has been repaired.
The damage from this winter has been patched.
The stretch in Hamilton county is good the part in Warren County is patch work, it is
passable, but at a slower speed.

State Route 8, between NY-30 and NY-9n, has been destroyed by a very harsh winter.
It is very hard on a car, impassable on a motorcycle.
I live 10 miles away, it used to be one of the best. I hope is repaired soon.
I will try to keep you posted

Rode Route 8 from Lake George to Weavertown/Route 30 in the evening after most of the traffic died down.
The road had lots of turns that allowed for riding that was closer to twisties than sweepers.
Road conditions were generally good.

Starting at Route 9N (Hague), you will experience some nice tight sweeping turns while climbing the mountain.
Along the way watch, full eyes will capture a quick view of 'elephants head' rock on the left side of the road in Graphite.
Once reaching the top you will experience some great mountain vistas.
There are two scenic overlooks on the road, lots of room to stop and view.
After reaching the bottom of the mountain you will see a small red barn on the right.
Palisades Road will be on your right about 1/2 mile beyond.
This road runs best east to west.

Crossing the Mohawk Valley and both tiers, Catskill and Adirondack, you'll most likely see it all!
This is one of the back doors into (or out of) the Adirondacks!
Worth a weekend jaunt!

A great ride through the Adirondacks, the stretch from Wevertown to the junction of NY-30 is a series of hills and curves with sporadic views of mountains and lakes, including Gore Mountain, which is snow into May.
While there are no really challenging areas, there are a couple of stretches between NY-30 and Speculator to open things up (watch for troopers!), and some state camping areas in Piseco, south of Speculator.
Adjoining rides in the same area are NY-28 from Warrensburg into Old Forge (stay away during tourist season!) and Route 30 from Speculator to Blue Mountain Lake.
Book a hotel room and run these often!
