I rode Old NC 75 from Oxford to Durham to attend the Bull City Rumble on 9/3/11, and back to Oxford after.
It was a very pleasant and lightly traveled road with relatively few crossroads and hidden driveways to worry about.
It is correctly labeled 'scenic', and is a great way to get from the farm country north of Durham down to the city without the boredom of Interstate 85.
As stated, it is not a challenging road.

This road is scenic, but by no means twisty.
It is a series of long straight sections with some sweeping turns and maybe half a dozen sweepy chicanes.
It is a nice road, but don't think you are going to be draggin a knee or working the bars.
Go to Old Liberty Road on this site if you need twists and can't make it to the NC mountains.

Scenic country ride between Durham and Oxford.
Twisting road passing through farm land and parks.
A very nice short adventure.
