This is an awesome road!
Who needs the 'Tail Of The Dragon'...great curves, some open straighter sections than back to the curves again.
The Rocky Broad River follows this road all the way into Lake Lure where there are great stops for lunch and a cold one!

I wouldn't recommend this road for the novice rider.
It is narrow and quite twisty.
There are several switchbacks and decreasing radius turns, with no guardrails.
Loose gravel is likely strewn from adjoining driveways, and the occasional pothole add to the danger.
That said, if ridden with care by experienced riders, it makes for a fun alternate route between Bat Cave and Highway 70.

Lots of gravel in several corners.
One corner had a rock close to the size of a football in the center of the lane.
Signs of hydraulic fluid in the lanes.
Watch out for the chickens crossing the road.

Watch for some rocks in a few corners.
Great road to bypass 9 going to Black Mountain.
Overall, fun road.

Connects I-40 to Highway 9.
The road turns into Old Fort Mountain Road before connecting to Highway 9.
This is a good route to Lake Lure with good pavement and curves.
