Living in the area, I ride this route several times per year and it never gets boring.
If you're pressed for time, you can always join back onto the Parkway, and many detours to Natural Bridge, Red River Gorge, and many, many more scenic places to become blissfully lost in.
Gas, food, and hospitality are always found along this highway and the various off-shoots.

Nice Afternoon ride with lots of places to stop for fuel and food.
The section between Irvine and Beattyville has some fairly twisty sections along with good scenery.

This is an awesome ride.
Plenty of twisties to make the road interesting.
Nice scenic vistas of the mountains.
We did take 11 into Natural Bridge and ate lunch at the state lodge restaurant.
Food was great and very affordable.
Will take this one again real soon.

We rode this route a few times to take the scenic route to the Gorge.
Great ride, lots of good curves and very fast.
Pavement is great for the most part, and little traffic.
I recommend hooking up with Route 11 to Natural Bridge, then on to 77 through Red River Gorge.
Rose's on 11 is a great place to stop for good food and great shakes.
